General
The mounting of the 56C Flange - NEMA 56C Flange Mount is such that the 4.500" dia. counter bore of the sensor mounts into the mating pilot of the machine requiring no alignment. The sensor can be replaced with a spare in a matter of minutes without any adjustment. The 56C Flange mount is totally interchangeable with the following sensors: CC3820R, CC3822R, CC3825R, CC3820T, CC3822T, CC450T, CC3820A/RVDT, CC450A/RVDT, CC290T, CC292T, CC290R, CC400T, CC400AE, CC350T, CC350R, and CC450AEMT.
1. MACHINE MOUNTING SURFACE and 56C FLANGE PREPARATION
1.1 Prepare the pilot surface by removing any dirt, debris, burrs, or other protrusions from the area where the flange surface will come in contact. A wire wheel, wire brush, sand paper, and files are tools needed for this procedure.
1.2 Clean any dirt or debris from the 56C Flange mounting surface and counter bore.
2. MOUNTING 56C FLANGE SENSOR TO MACHINE
Reference drawing 160A9007
2.1 If the sensor is complete with flange and coupling mounted, match sensor counter bore and machine pilot together. The counter bore should slide freely onto the pilot. Mount sensor to the machine with (4) 3/8" hardware, not supplied and torque appropriately. Do Not force the counter bore onto the pilot.
2.1.1 If flange counter bore and machine pilot do not slide freely together, repeat section 1. If after repeating preparation procedure they still will not mate, measure both mounting surfaces. If there is a dimensional inconsistency with a CCI product, please contact CCI immediately.
2.1.2 If flange counter bore and machine pilot are very loose fitting, where sensor can be shifted off center, measure both mounting surfaces. If there is a dimensional inconsistency with a CCI product, please contact CCI immediately. It is important to have a good fit between sensor and machine. If a problem exists with the mounting pilot, it should be corrected in order to maintain sensor integrity and prolong sensor life.
2.2 If applicable to mount the CCI supplied bellows coupling or other coupling to the sensor, first remove the 56C Flange from the sensor by removing with a 3/16" hex key the (4) 1/4-20 socket head cap screws. Slide the coupling onto the sensor shaft approximately 1/8" +/-1/16" from the sensor. For CCI supplied coupling torque 20-30 in-lbs. For other couplings reference torque requirements of coupling manufacture. Install the 56C Flange to the sensor, torque 1/4-20 screws 150-200 in-lbs. Then mount the sensor per section 2.1.
2.3 With the sensor mounted on the machine, remove with a 3/8" hex key one or both of the 1/2" NPT brass socket plugs. For CCI supplied bellows coupling use 3mm hex key or ball driver and torque machine side of the coupling 20-30 in-lbs. For other couplings reference torque requirements of coupling manufacture.
2.4 Return 1/2 NPT brass socket plugs into the tubing of the flange and torque 250-350 in-lbs.
Carlen Controls, Inc. warrants its products to be free from defects caused by faulty materials or poor workmanship for a minimum period of one year from the date of shipment from Carlen Controls.
This warranty does not cover defects or damages caused by service or repair performed by anyone other than Carlen Controls. Do not attempt to open covers or housings where fasteners have been sealed.
Carlen Controls’ liability is limited to replacing, repairing or issuing credit at its option, for any products which are returned by the original purchaser during the warranty period. Carlen Controls makes no warranty that its products are fit for the use or purpose to which they may be put by the buyer, whether or not such use or purpose has been disclosed to Carlen Controls in specifications or drawings previously or subsequently provided, or whether or not Carlen Controls’ products are specifically designed and/or manufactured for the buyer’s use or purpose. Carlen Controls’ liability on any claim for loss or damage arising out of the sale, resale or use of any of its products shall in no event exceed the selling price of the unit.
Carlen Controls warranty covers only products manufactured by Carlen Controls. Products used in conjunction with Carlen Controls products but supplied by another manufacturer; such as Inland Motors’ tachometer and Hubbell overspeed switches, are covered by original manufacturer’s warranty.
Return Products Procedure
No products may be returned, whether in warranty or out of warranty, without first obtaining approval from Carlen Controls. Any returned product (s) must be accompanied by a return authorization number. Products must be returned, prepaid, to Carlen Controls (no COD or Collect Freight accepted). The status of any product returned later than (3) days after the issuance of a return authorization number will be subject to review.
Returned Product Warranty Determination
After Carlen Controls’ examination, warranty or out-of-warranty status will be determined. If upon examination a warranted defect exists, then the product (s) will be repaired at no charge and shipped, prepaid, back to the buyer.
Return Product Non-Warranty Determination
After Carlen Controls’ examination, the buyer shall be notified of the repair cost. At such time the buyer must issue a valid purchase order to cover the cost of the repair and freight, or authorize the product (s) to be shipped back as is, at the buyer’s expense. Failure to obtain a purchase order number or approval within (30) days of the notification will result in the product(s) being returned as is, at the buyer’s expense.
Rush Service
At times, the buyer may desire to expedite a repair. Regardless of warranty or out-of-warranty status, the buyer must issue a valid purchase order to cover the added rush cost service. Rush service is subject to Carlen Controls’ approval.
